Hey all. I haven't been updating lately because I've been working on a new website to showcase my work. It'll be up in less than 7 days and should answer some questions you may have in regards to what the hell I've been doing with my time.

GoFish Networks Corporate Website

I had the good fortune of being asked to contribute a large portion of copy to the remodeling of the GoFish Youth Networks corporate website. Here are some samples from the site:

I happen to really like the headline here. I feel that it really speaks to the online network as a safe and fun destination for kids.

This is the Job Page ("Are You A Catch?") - written from scratch. It's my personal fave off the entire site.

And...something a little more technical: "Schooling Fish."

A Muni Ad Post From Last Year

I liked this post from last year that I wrote for another blog, so I thought I would add it here:

MUNI has a new "let's-show-the-public-we're-friendly-and-have-personality" ad campaign. I haven't seen any of these ads anywhere but inside actual MUNI busses. I am guessing that thisis because they aren't actually interested in increasing their rider numbers; they simply want to make you feel welcome once you're inside their death-coaches. Here's an example of the ad:

I'm not going to write out the ad. Hopefully you can see it if you click on the picture. Suffice to say that they profile an actual MUNI operator and she tells an interesting story. If you don't know what MUNI is or haven't had the pleasure of an encounter with one of their operators, you're really missing out on a special treat. On average, they are extremely loud, opinionated, insulting, arrogant, and rude, and in my time in San Francisco, I haven't yet met one who isn't all of these combined. If you haven't yet heard the story of the MUNI operator who stopped his coach in the middle of an intersection to buy produce on the side of the road, or the one about the MUNI operator who honked at a gay couple kissing and then pulled over and said "I don't wanna see that shit in my city," or even the one about the MUNI operator who grabbed a passenger's arm to keep him from moving through the coach before his "friends" could, then you really should talk to me more, because I've seen it all.

I thought I would try my hand at some of these "MUNI stories," but from a rider's perspective:

"Once I was walking in the middle of 6th and market, and a taxi ran me over. I was screaming for help when I saw a MUNI bus coming towards me. I was hoping the bus driver would stop to help, but he ran over me, and almost ran a red light. When he backed up out of the intersection, he ran right back over my legs. I still ride MUNI, but now I need wheelchair assistance." - Rhonda, MUNI rider since 1998

"Someone once told me that MUNI drivers are so serious and rude because they've spent most of their lives in jail" - Chris, MUNI rider since 2005

"Once I was standing in the middle of a MUNI bus and the driver hit the brakes hard! I was sent flying through the windshield. When I came to, the bus driver was looking at me. I thought she was an angel. She just said. "You're supposed to stand behind the yellow line." - Dave, MUNI rider since 2001

"One time I was on muni and this woman peed right in front of me, and I screamed for the driver to do something, and he just handed me some paper towels and said Charlene gets on at Mission and 12th every day at 5:43, and I should take the next bus next time." - Donna, MUNI rider since 1985

Amazon Advertising Holiday Party

The first real ad-type thing I worked on was an invite for a Holiday party for Amazon Advertising. I'm not sure if you will be able to read the fine print, but it's my favorite part of the invite.
